Biographical Sketch of Bruce Buchanan

Bruce Buchanan was born in a city hospital in southwest
Virginia in 1969, and went back with his parents to live in the
hills where his daddy was a country preacher. He didn't stay
there long though, just long enough to ensure he would always
be a Blue Ridge boy, but not long enough to sound like one.
He later returned to that region to go to college, graduating
from Liberty University in 1991. He spent the next nearly
five years in the Army as an officer.

In the fall of 1997 he began seminary training for the
ministry at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in South
Carolina, back in the foothills of the Blue Ridge. Before he
graduated in 2001, he married his dear wife Donna, spent a
summer interning in New Jersey, and begat him a daughter,
Verity. He and his family spent most of the following year doing
intern-pulpit supply in Salinas, California, His daughter
Mercy was born there. In 2002, he was licensed to preach by the
Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

For three years, he waited on the Lord to open a door of
opportunity to serve him as a minister. It was a long wait,
longer than he expected at the beginning, but he never felt a
question about his calling. He knew God was preparing him and a
church that needed someone like him to be ready for each
other at the same time. Meanwhile two more children were born to
Bruce and Donna, another daughter, Peace, and a son,
Benjamin. In the spring of 2005, Faith PCA in Akron called Bruce to
be an Assistant Pastor. After being examined by the
Presbytery, Bruce was duly ordained and installed on June 5, 2005.
