November 2004                      VOL. XX No. 11

Join Believers Worldwide and Pray!

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church

November 14, 2004

There are more than 200 Million reasons why our church should pray for the persecuted church! That’s because more than 200 Million brother and sisters suffer for the sake of Christ. This year IDOP is taking place world-wide on November 14th. Over 200,000 churches internationally are joining in prayer for our suffering brothers and sisters. For more information see the Mission to the World web site at www.mtw.org.

There will be a box in the vestibule until December 19th for you to place your food donations in. Please remember, no perishable items. Suggestions would be: dry grocery items, canned goods, paper products, soaps, etc. All food collected will be distributed to needs within our own congregation first, and the surplus to local food banks. Anyone wishing to give a cash donation rather than canned goods may do so. Please see Mel Channel with your request.

Honor the Lord from your wealth,

And from the first of all your produce;

So your barns will be filled with plenty,

And your vats will overflow with new wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10)

Attention Ladies of Faith Presbyterian Church:

Mission Updates...

Praise God some Faith Church families have volunteered to “adopt” some of our missionary families. With five more on our list please pray more Faith Church members will “adopt” a missionary.

Campbell: Give thanks to God, all the Campbells have found friends in the USA through the Spanish language. Jack and Sherri can work with International Ministry at Clemson University, where John Thomas and Jessica are students. They spread the Gospel through tutoring in ESL. Jack has contacted many churches, including Washington, D.C. Sherri flew back to Nebraska to see her father who suffers from Parkinsons, surgery and a stroke. He cannot speak, but he could see her. Praise – Sherri’s many tests returned benign so the surgery is not required now. They hope to see us soon.

Mateer: Sam and Lois are in the USA on a one month HNA. They have seen many of their supporting churches, but will not make it to Ohio this time. They will attend the global Mission Conference of MTW in Atlanta, then return to South America on November 10. The San Marcos church where Sam preaches is doing well, but needs a larger meeting place for their growing congregation. Elders are filling the pulpit in his absence. Two men from Cristo Rey were ordained last month. Praise God for answered prayer! On a happy note – Lois visited daughters Dawn and Vonnie and got to hold the two new baby grand children.

Reformation Christian Ministries in Florida: Geoff Donnan praises God that they came through the hurricane uninjured. But the flooded property is a mess of stranded fish and huge fallen trees. They are trusting God to send repair contributions and volunteer workmen for “winter vacation,” to help restore order on the property. Give thanks that Kimarie Card, Donnan’s daughter, has had no harm to her pregnancy. They praise God’s grace and care.

Carr: Bill and Susan are still in the USA, but would like to return to Africa soon. They still need some financial support. Bill’s ulcer has healed and Susan’s broken ankle is healing.

Taylor: Calvin and Geeta are still in the USA, but would like to return to the mission field soon. They also still need financial support. Praise God for giving them free use of a manse until they leave to go home.

Prayer Chain Requests:

When you have a prayer request to start on the prayer chain please remember that you may call Karla Richards at home, at work, or email her. All three options are available.

If you have borrowed hymnals or Psalters from the sanctuary please remember to return them so we have enough for our use during the worship service. Thank you.

As we remember our heritage and the brave men and women who came to our shores many years ago, let us remember to praise our Lord who providentially watched over them, as He does us today. It is from our Lord that all our blessings come!
