March 2008
Hello one and all,
I know you’ve been long awaiting the newsletter written by me
Luke Kadlecek. But now, the time has finally arrived when
you get to read a newsletter containing wit, humor,
entertainment, and the facts on what went on at this
months MESS meetings. I know quite the powerful punch. So,
getting right to the point. The first meeting was pretty
much the typical normal interesting TOTALLY AWESOME MESS
meeting one expects from such a phenomenal group of teens
like us…or most of us some have the uncanny ability of
being incredibly mean to me and if anyone knows what
uncanny means please, email me, I’m dying to know. Jason
also brought a friend from school, Sophie.
We also found out that
at the next meeting the winner of the “invite a friend”
contest would be given their prize. Amy was in the lead
with a lame 3 or 4. Second place was like 1. Although,
many of us dedicated member worked very hard at getting
people to come but simply could not persuade people. You
would think Kate and Sam would have people coming by the
millions with their incredible speech/debate ability but
they must resist the urge to use it because they don’t but
we all try very hard. Amy is just too good for us. We
honor you Amy. There were some people missing such as my
most beloved sister which deprived (I’m on a roll using
these words I don’t know) us all of some good laughs.
The Tasseff girls and the Adkins also were gone with my
sister due to a speech tournament which they all did
EXCELLENT in I am glad to say.
Moving on to the next
meeting, Caleb Sevcik gave a last chance attempt at winning
the Friend competition by bringing Jenna Grant but still
did couldn’t do it. Jenna was also a first time visitor to
the youth group and enjoyed it greatly…I think. Amy also
brought a friend who had already attended an outing or two…
For Amy’s diligent efforts she was rewarded a picture of
the very hot and sexy John Calvin… a man any girl would be
honored to have a shirt of I am sure or at least in Pastor
Mark’s eyes. Josh was not able to attend because of a math
test supposedly. He was greatly missed. The big event of
the meeting though was the Scholtens pool was finally open
and I was the first to take full advantage of that heedless
of the temperature. It was cold to say the least but you
went numb after a couple of minutes so it wasn’t too bad.
Awhile later Bethany decided to face her fears and joined
me and shortly after Bibby joined Bethany which caused
Noah, of all people, to man up and join us. We also had
our music outside which was different but pretty cool as
Caleb wowed us with his incredibly beastly guitar skills.
Karli, my previously mentioned beloved sister tried to
outdo him later in the evening with her old lady in the
shoe song. It was a classic battle, the weathered
professional against the first time amateur. I’m not sure
who’s better. Probably Caleb by a very minute margin. All
in all, it was a pretty awesome Youth Group and I believe
we all left encouraged and ready to keep on fighting the
good fight to shine for Christ wherever we go.
