Ladies of Faith Church
WIC: The spring WIC (Women in the Church) will be held at the home of Avone
Blasiman on Saturday, March 17th. All ladies (members, regular attenders and
visitors) are welcome to attend. We will be meeting in homes as well as the
church this year to both try to cover the distances for the northern and
southern ladies and to hopefully feel more comfortable and homey on a Saturday
morning. Thank you to Avone for opening her home to us! Ask Avone if you need
directions or a map. Breakfast at the Blasimans will begin at 9:30 a.m. hosted
by the WIC officers. Debra Kobb will present a church history lesson on St.
Patrick so feel free to wear orange (we know it is the hot color in all our
wardrobes) and Kristi Kadlecek will lead us in an idea generating session of
desired topics for growth and fellowship in the ensuing months. Hope to wish you
top ‘o the morning’ there!
CHURCH HISTORY STUDY:
There will be no Women’s Study on Church History in March. The study will resume
in April.
L.A.M.B.S.
(Ladies AM Bible Study) will resume March 15th. The ladies will begin a new
study on Christian Virtues. Anyone wishing to join the L.A.M.B.S. now is the
time! L.A.M.B.S. meets every first and third Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the
fellowship hall. Anyone wishing to join the group please see Melinda Althuis for
a study book. (Those who already have a book please prepare lesson one).
NURSERY: Due to many
women teaching children’s Sunday School classes and having babies, the nursery
staff is now coming up short and is in need of nursery workers during the Sunday
School hour. If you would be able to volunteer your time to helping out in the
nursery please see Kristi Kadlecek.
Prayer Chain Requests
Jan. 4:Ruth Beckley had a fall today while getting on a bus going to the store.
She was taken to the hospital, but is now at home and ok.
Jan. 5:Annie Kadlecek had surgery and it went well. She is home and we are
encouraged at how well she is progressing. She has taken to using the walker
well.
Jan. 5:Sue Caler came out of surgery this weekend. She is now sedated and will
remain so for a couple of days.
Jan. 8:A friend of the Tasseffs, Danny, has been in the hospital with
meningitis, and has now taken a turn for the worse with a high fever.
Jan. 9:Praise God for the safe arrival of the Buchanan twins! Jonathan and
Charity were born at around 8:00 a.m. by C-section.
Jan. 15: Edana Bruder’s son Mark was taken to the hospital with dizziness,
nausea and crushing chest pain. They did angioplasty and found a clot in one of
his coronary arteries. They put in a stint and kept him overnight. He is on
medication and told to rest and do no lifting over ten pounds. Thankfully, they
said it was not a heart attack.
Jan. 16:Carl Childers begins his first series of chemo. Pray for the drugs to
eradicate the cancer with minimal harm done by the drugs he will receive today.
Jan. 18:Andrew Duff had some tests done on his head to determine the cause of
his headaches and a recent seizure. The MRI was normal and EEG are normal.
Jan. 22:Mary Sebright will be having back surgery & Todd a heart
catheterization.
Jan. 24:Fern and Rol Richards request prayer for Rol’s brother-in-law, Wade. He
is in the hospital. He is 54 and has sclerosis of the liver (diet not alcohol
related). He will undergo tests to see if he is a good candidate for a
transplant in which case he will be moved to Cleveland Clinic.
Jan. 25:Karla Richards has a prayer request for her mother, Laurel. Karla’s
mother is in emergency at Akron General with a bowel obstruction/blockage.They
have a tube in her stomach and are waiting to see if this will help. If not,
emergency surgery may be eminent.
Jan. 25:Edana Bruder’s son, Mark, has seen a navy doctor and the cardiologist at
the civilian hospital. His EKG and blood pressure are fine. He is to have a
stress test Feb. 20th. Please pray that the results will be positive and show no
more clots and no damage.
Jan. 27:Karla Richard’s mother came home from the hospital last night. She did
not require any surgery.
Jan. 29:Sue Caler’s operation was successful. She has been sedated for nearly
three weeks because the doctors did not want her awake with the ventilator in
her throat. This was removed and she has received her first food by mouth. She
still finds it hard to speak, but she is awake. She is responding slowly and on
pain medication, but her prognosis is good. The cancer was isolated and no
radiation or chemo is necessary.
Feb. 6:Mary Sebright had her back surgery. It lasted four hours and the doctors
believe that all went well. Todd requests we pray for Mary’s recovery. She will
be in Akron General Hospital for three days and will face a six week recovery
period once she is home.
Feb. 8:Fern Richards would like prayer for her friend’s daughter, Debbie. She
was badly burned in a fire in her condo. She lives in New Jersey. She has 75%
burns and is very badly injured, including damage to one of her lungs.
Dear Church Family:
Thank you so much for all the prayers, cards and visits over the past few weeks.
It has meant so much to us both.
George and Sue Caler
Missions Update
Calvin and Geeta Taylor: Karuna and Nathan are adjusting well to school in a
classroom setting. Thank God for the completion of one year of the neighborhood
Bible Study and for growth and blessing through this year. Calvin will be
involved in several meetings prior to the Annual Board meeting of the Children’s
Home. Pray for wisdom and direction as the home seeks to find new support and
curb expenses while maintaining good care for the children. Geeta has started
meeting with some ladies for prayer every week. Pray that they will be able to
continue this and not have schedule disruptions.
Please remember if you have
volunteered in the past to host a missionary family please get the address,
email and any other pertinent information you may have on your missionary to
Myrna Best as soon as possible.
